Spread the Word Saturday

1. My Consumption

Water - took a shower in the morning and in the night, brushed teeth, washed face, flushed toilet, drank two bottles of water, washed hands about 4 times

Food - Trix Cereal, Cheez-Its, Cookies, French Fries, Juice

Electricity - watched TV for a few hours, Ipod, phone, desk lamp, dining room light

Gas - got dropped off at the hairsalon, took public transportation to get back

 home

Money - spent eighty dollars at the hairsalon

2. I definitely cut back on the amount of food I usually eat. I usually eat a lot within the period of a day but today I cut the amount I usually eat in half. I spent eighty dollars at the hair salon today. I went from spending no money to eighty dollars, but it was for a well needed cause.

3. It wasn’t that hard to cut back on the food, but the reason I didn’t eat a lot was because I didn’t have time to eat as much as I usually do. I don’t think that I could continue cutting back on the food because I love food very much.

4. I noticed that my followers are cutting back on the social networking, water consumption, and the amount of gas they spent. I know that they have cut back immensely during the week of this project, but after this project is finished could we all possibly continue doing these things long term or would we go back to our old ways.

Foodless Friday

1. My Consumption

Water - Took two showers 15 minutes each, drank two bottles of water, washed my face, brushed teeth, washed hands, flushed toilet

Food - Cheez-Its, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Capri-Sun, Cheesy Fries, Trix Cereal, Pina Colada Flavored Juice

Electricity - the tv in one room was on, desk lamp was being used, all other lights were turned off, phone, ipod

Gas - took public transportation to and from school

Money - None !

2. Today I scaled back on the amount of electricity I consumed and the amount of money I spent. I was able to spend no money today and for that I was very proud of myself :)

3. Well so far it has been a bit hard to cut back on the food lol, yeah I most likely won’t cut back at all. I was able to go the second day in a row without spending any money. It’s not that hard after all. I made my own lunch and brought it to school so I wouldn’t have to spend any excess money on snacks etc.

4. So far I noticed that a number of my followers are cutting back on their water consumption. People have gone from taking 30 minute showers to taking 15 - 10 minute showers. I have managed to do the same.

Technology Thursday

1. My Consumption

Water - one bottle of water, took a 15 minute shower in the morning, going to take another one after I finish homework, flushed toilet three times, washed hands three times, washed face, brushed teeth.

Food - Cookies, PB&J Sandwich, Cheez-it’s, Capri Sun, Doritos, Cheetos, Brownies, a cup of Pepsi/Orange Soda, Fried Chicken, Rice, Veggies

Electricity- desk lamp, phone, ipod, dining room light, tv

Gas - took public transportation to school, got a ride home from my tax program

Money - today I spent zero dollars !!! :)

2. Today I definitely scaled back on the amount of money I spent. I Had went from spending 3 dollars at the beginning of the week, to spending 10 dollars in one day(yesterday), but today I manged to spend 0 dollars. Instead of buying food, I brought my own lunch to school.

3. It is kind of difficult for me to cut back on the amount of money I spend but today I managed not to spend any which was really good. I used to spend money on random snacks and things that I do not necessarily need, but it felt good to know that I could spend no money at all today. Hopefully I can keep this trend going, and this will help me to save.

4. I noticed that my followers are cutting back on the amount of electricity they use. I’ve seen a numerous amount of posts where my followers say they turn of their electronics when not in use, or they cut back on the amount of light they keep on in their house which was very good. I have started to cut back on the amount of electricity I use and hopefully my mother will see a change in the electricity bill :)

Day 4

1. My Consumption

Water - Two bottles of water, flushed toilet twice, washed hands four times, brushed my teeth, washed my face, took a 15 minute shower this morning, and I’m going to take another 15 minute shower before I go to bed.

Food - Starbucks Caramel Frapuccino, Bacon Egg and Cheese on a Croissant, a bag of chips, two 100 calorie chips ahoy cookies, and I haven’t eaten dinner yet(will add it to this post later).

Electricity- The kitchen and dining room lights are on, the only TV currently on is the one in the living room, I’m using my computer to type this up right now and my phone is charging in my bedroom. I haven’t been on any social networking sites other than twitter(yes, I’m an addict).

Gasoline- I took public transportation to and from school.

Money- I spent 4.76 on my frap, 2.50 on a breakfast sandwich, 2.00 on two bottles of water, 1.20 on two packs of chips ahoy 100 calorie snacks, and 50 cents on a bag of sun chips

2. Once again, I continue to scale back the amount of electricity that I use. I only have the kitchen and dining room light on(the’re actually being used), usually, all the tv’s in my house would be on regardless of if they were being used or not, but only one tv is currently on and it is actually being used. Today I spent 10 dollars thought even though I did not intend to :( smh, but I’ll try again tomorrow.

3. I can definitely see myself continuing this trend with cutting back on my electricity and my water usage. Cutting back on the amount of money I spend is kind of hard though, but i’ll try harder tomorrow and see if I can cut back and not spend any money at all.

4. I have yet to see any of my followers posts for Day 4(guess I started a bit early) so I’ll come back and check my dashboard later to see what’s going on.

“We do subsistence whaling here so these bears have some remains to feed from, otherwise they would be starving now.” say Robert Thompson while sat in his car watching the activity at the bone pile. “40 years ago the pack ice was visible from the shore all year, but the latest 10-12 years it has changed dramatically and the last years there has been no ice visible at all in the summer,” he adds. The polar bears are not without competition at the bone pile. Grizzly bears have found this food source and scraps between the different bears have been witnessed.

Day 3: Try Harder Tuesday

1. My Consumption

Water - Drank 2 bottles of water, took a 15 shower in the morning, going to take another one before I go to bed. Washed hands, brushed teeth, flushed toilet, all of that good stuff.

Food - Pringles, Bottled Arizona Ice Tea, Apple Cider, Fruits, Crackers & Cheese, Cereal, Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Baked Mac and Cheese

Electricity - using my computer to type this up, playing music, used my cellphone and charged it, using my desk lamp at the moment, the tv is on, currently on twitter, no facebook.

Gasoline - took public transportation to school, and to my tax program, got a ride home from my program

Money - only spent three dollars

2. Today I scaled back on the amount of electricity I use and the amount of money I spend. Usually most of the lights in my house would be on(burning electricity), but today I only have my desk lamp on so that helps to conserve energy. I also only spend three dollars today which is a very big improvement because I usually spend 15 dollars a day.

3. It’s not that hard to cut back on the amount of electricity that I use per day. I used to aimlessly leave literally every light in my house on for no purpose at all. It’s good that I am only using the light that I need to do my homework to help conserve energy. This is something that I can definitely see myself doing over long periods of time. A lot of people in developing countries do not receive electricity like I do, so instead of taking it for granted I can learn to use less, because it benefits in the long run.

4. A change that I noticed was that people are starting to take shorter showers, and they’re not spending as much time on social networks. I thought that using social networks less would be more of a challenge for my followers since that’s how some may communicate w/ friends, etc, but they seem to have cut down on their usage of them.
